Greetings of peace, welcome.
Context
Building upon the theme of understanding the relationship between wisdom, technology and spiritual productivity to help my readers understand how they can benefit from their own spiritual productivity as a processive result of attaining wisdom and technical expertise in their chosen fields; in this blogpost-essay I will discuss the theme of friendship that serves the object under discussion.
We established that patience is one of the warriors in the spiritually productive person against what Musashi calls the deviant state of mind.
We looked at the following three potent ways to ensure patience for a spiritually productive person in pursuit of genuinity.
- The experience of seeing oneself in the context of history.
- The experience of truth, goodness and beauty in nature for oneself.
- The experience of openness and liberation through the spiritual world.
Now, to the theme of friendship:
Inna awliya Allahi la khawfun alaihim wa la hum yaHzanun
The spiritually productive wayfarer is a friend to the All-Wise. There are conditions to this friendship.
The friendship that sets aside fear and grief comes with its conditions and responsibility upon the one who seeks the highest friendship. Belief in the deen of Allah, and practicing shari’ah law are two of the conditions of this friendship. (See Yunus: 62, 63)
Benefit of this essay
In this essay, I will expose some pointers to help you on this journey to God’s friendship in order to experience spiritual productivity as an object of wisdom and technology.
Reasonings for friendship in spiritual productivity
“Think lightly of yourself and deeply of the world.”
– Miyamoto Musashi, Spiritually Productive Master of the Way from Classical Japanese Era
The world is made of people. People are spiritual. People either seek friendship or are friends of God. Those who are aware of this attainable friendship are named wayfarers.
If the friendship is like a gigantic fantastic mountain of golden bliss, then the wayfarers will seek all wisdom and technology to help them attain this friendship.
If the bliss increases with altitude, then the wayfarers start seeing each other on the path to the top.
Each wayfarer knows that there is plentiful bliss and everybody is welcome to taste it: no envy, jealousy, spite and contempt comes to their vicinity, let alone enter their hearts.
These wayfarers are the friends of Allah on the mountain of bliss. The mountain top welcomes them with a portal of spiritual experience.
There are many mountains of bliss, and even more wayfarers like this, in the history of the world.
Every wayfarer is moving on the path to the top at his speed, according to the decree of God and each free-will.
Will we then not adopt the wayfaring for this bliss?
Wayfaring in a busy city like Lahore
For me, it has been possible to be a wayfarer in the path of Allah since I can remember.
Here are pointers that made this struggle for friendship possible.
- I intended to befriend God.
- I intended to befriend God’s friends in Lahore.
- I befriended God’s friends in Lahore.
- I intend to befriend God’s awliya from around the world.
- I see everybody as a friend of God, due to his awareness of it or despite his neglect of it; because God is closer to each of our jugular veins. Also, God has bestowed honor upon every human.
- I try my best to follow shariah.
- I try my best to follow a sufi path.
- I focus my attention on God’s Jamaali attributes and fear Him when He shifts my focus to His Jalaali attributes.
- I love His best-friend, our master Muhammad saww.
Thence, you may adopt these secrets to your advantage in order to boost spiritual productivity on the way toward Allah’s friendship.
This then, is an essay on intentional technique inspired by the wisdom of wayfaring in a spiritually productive way in order to attain the highest friendship, and the friendship of the wayfarers.
